Authorities say comedian Kevin Hart has been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after his black Mercedes nearly collided with a tanker trunk on a Southern California freeway.
California Highway Patrol Officer Ed Jacobs says Hart appeared intoxicated when he was pulled over before dawn Sunday on Highway 101 in Los Angeles.
Hart failed a field sobriety test and was booked for misdemeanor DUI. He was held on a $5,000 bond.
Jacobs says the Mercedes was being driven erratically at over 90 mph and nearly slammed into a gas tanker.
A female passenger in Hart's car was sent home in a taxi.
Hart was born and raised in Philadelphia.
He starred in the 2011 stand-up special "Laugh At My Pain" and has appeared in TV's "Undeclared" and in several movies.
A call to a spokesperson for Hart was not immediately returned.

As rumored, Jay-Z is going to sell his small share of the Brooklyn Nets.
Hova, who just launched the Roc Nation sports-representation agency, has suggested that he'd like to expand his operation into basketball. But NBA rules state that if you're affiliated with a player representation company, you can't have an ownership stake with an NBA team -- it's a conflict of interest. So he has to divest.
If the sale is completed in time, Jay and Roc Nation will be able to compete for players entering June's NBA draft.
Chris Brown realizes he has a huge hill to climb to get back in the public's good graces.
This morning (Monday), Breezy sat with Matt Lauer on the Today show -- ostensibly to promote his new album, X -- and opened up about how things have been going since he beat up Rihanna in 2009. He said, "I've been humbled by the whole experience. From me losing everything to me having to regain public opinion -- but most importantly, knowing what I did was totally wrong and in the same breath being able to apologize to Rihanna."
Chris added that he's trying to keep his attention on his relationship with RiRi. "As far as me and [Rihanna] are concerned, she knows my heart, and I know her heart. So I'm not really focused on the negative -- I can't make everybody like me... It's about me being positive."

Has Chris Brown turned on his own security team?
According to gossip site MediaTakeout, sources say that Brown and several of his friends jumped his longtime security guard Big Pat on a recent flight from Ghana. The source claims that Breezy became enraged over something and turned his aggression on the guard, who fended off the attack without being harmed and then got off the plane when it landed in Bermuda. The source says that Big Pat didn't harm Brown or any of his friends, "though he definitely could have."
There's at least something to this story -- the Bermuda Sun reports that an unnamed security guard did get off of Brown's plane when it landed on the island and declined to re-board, telling a customs agent that he'd gotten into a fight with Brown. The guard later took a flight to JFK after Brown's flight took off.
Drake is on the verge of yet another Billboard chart record.
His "Started From the Bottom" has jumped 16 spots to number-three on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, becoming his 30th release to make the Top 10. That puts him behind just Lil' Wayne, who's been on the chart 34 times, and R. Kelly, who's had 32 appearances.
He already holds the record for the most Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart with 11. When 2 Chainz's “No Lie” featuring Drake hit number-one in August, it was Drizzy's 10th chart-topper. Jay-Z previously held that record.
2 Chainz was arrested on pot possession charges in Maryland last night (Thursday) -- and the cops allegedly followed up his mug shot by posing for personal pictures with him.
TMZ reports that the MC was busted after a traffic stop revealed he was carrying a small amount of weed, and released from custody shortly after he was booked. In a Twitter post, he claimed he didn't actually have a bag of pot on him, just a grinder that contained some leftovers.
He also posted a photo of himself with the arresting officers, captioned, "Locked me up, then wanted pictures. SMH."
