Nick Cannon Is Reportedly Having Trouble Booking A-List Celebrities For Upcoming Talk Show Due To Anti-Semitism Controversy, Allegedly Hoping Ex-Wife Mariah Carey Will Appear On Show To Help
Nick Cannon is allegedly still feeling the backlash from his controversy last year.
As you may recall, Nick Cannon ruffled feathers last summer after making comments that some considered anti-Semitic. While talking on his Cannon Class podcast, Nick Cannon called Black people the “true Hebrews” and stated:
“It’s never hate speech, you can’t be anti-Semitic when we are the Semitic people. When we are the same people who [Jewish people] want to be. That’s our birthright.”
In the aftermath, MTV and Viacom distanced themselves from Nick Cannon until he educated himself by meeting with rabbis. He eventually apologized, though he was called a sellout by many for doing so. Nick Cannon tweeted:
“I hurt an entire community and it pained me to the core, I thought it couldn’t get any worse. Then I watched my own community and call me a sell-out for apologizing. Goodnight. Enjoy Earth.”
Additionally, the controversy caused the premiere of his new talk show to be delayed by about a year.
However, Nick Cannon‘s talk show is now gearing up to launch in the fall. The only problem is that the show is said to be having trouble booking A-list celebrity names due to many not wanting to be associated with its host.
Regarding the matter, an insider told OK!:
“[The show’s producers are] having a bit of a hard time finding the guests it needs to launch with in the fall [because publicists are] worried about putting big names on his show because of the scandal.”
Because many are reluctant to appear on Nick Cannon‘s upcoming talk show, he is reportedly hoping his ex-wife Mariah Carey will appear to get the ball rolling. However, it is unclear whether the “Fantasy” singer will break the ice.
