Nicole Ari Parker Says Some Of The ‘Sex and the City’ Reboot Storylines ‘Deal With Race’
Nicole Ari Parker said of the revival,
“I’m excited to be a part of something that’s different for them. We can talk about the elephant in the room that there were no fully fleshed-out characters of color, but now here’s the four of us.”
Alongside Nicole Ari Parker will be Sara Ramirez, Sarita Choudhury, and Karen Pittman, who are all women of color. Nicole Ari Parker continued,
“We’re real people, and they’ve been great to work with, and some of our [storylines] deal with race and deal with real experiences. It’s New York City!”
But Parker doesn’t want the original fans to worry about the new storylines. Reassuring the show will maintain its sex appeal, she said,
“We’re grown-a** women, so we know how to keep it sexy. It’s piping hot.”
News broke that Parker was joining the cast back in August. It came amid reports that Kim Cattrall, who starred as Samantha Jones in the original series and movies, would not be in the reboot.
Nicole Ari Parker will play the role of Carrie Bradshaw’s best friend, a documentary maker named Lisa Todd Wexley, and Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon–will reprise their original characters.
‘And Just Like That’ is set to air in December on HBO Max.
