Laurence Fishburne’s Daughter Montana Sentenced To 2 Years Probation After 2022 Arrest For Allegedly Slapping A Police Officer
Laurence Fishburne’s daughter Montana Fishburne has been sentenced after she was arrested and charged in 2022 for battery on a police officer in Florida.
Montana Fishburne, 32, received 24 months of probation after pleading no contest to the felony earlier this month. She first pleaded not guilty. Montana Fishburne also has to complete a 13-week anger management program, according to Us Weekly.
Her attorney Michael Grieco said of her plea,
“There is no admission of guilt and no conviction and the case will be sealed and put in the rearview. And young Ms. Fishburne will be able to move on with her life.”
On the day of her arrest in January 2022, Montana called the police claiming that a former boyfriend was stalking and threatening her. Once cops got there, Montana was allegedly the only person present.

She’s accused of standing on the sidewalk while screaming at police “that no one helped her.” She allegedly walked toward officers as they told her “multiple times to back up.”
She then allegedly smacked an officer on his head which led to him experiencing swelling and redness on his ear.
This isn’t the first time Montana has had legal woes. Back in 2017, she was taken into custody for a DUI and three misdemeanors, however, she posted $2,500 bond a day later. She was also arrested for a DUI in Florida in 2020, before getting released on bond. theJasmineBRAND exclusively reported at the time that she pleaded not guilty.
In her personal life, Montana has famously starred in adult films. She said back in 2010 that she knew it was something she wanted to do since she was a teenager.
She added,
“I absolutely didn’t make this movie to hurt my parents or bring shame to my family name. This was something that I wanted to do and I think that, in time, my father will support me in my decision.”
She noted that her mother, Laurence Fishburne’s ex-wife and actress Hajna O. Moss has been a source of support.
“[My mom] just tells me that she loves me and that whatever decisions that I make, she wants me to be sure about it. And I am.”

Former “The Real Housewives of New York City” star recently launched a new podcast about divorce titled “Just B Divorced with Bethenny Frankel,” and in the latest episode, she shared intimate reasons behind her separation from TV personality Jason Hoppy. The former love birds married in 2010 and had one child together. Their union soon turned rocky and they revealed they were divorcing in January 2013. However, legally ending their connection was no easy feat, and their divorce wasn’t finalized until January 2021.
Explaining how she had to “force” herself to have sex with Jason Hoppy during their marriage, Bethenny Frankel said,
“We were laying in bed and he used to say to me, ‘You’re like a block of ice’ because I did not want to be intimate, I did not want to have sex.”
She continued,
“I did not respect him. I did not want to have sex at all. He used to say to me, ‘It feels like this bed is like a block of ice.’”
Bethenny Frankel claimed she would have to “force” herself into sleeping with her then-hubby.

“It was torture.”

Tyler Perry is making money moves!
The multi-hyphenate, 54, inked a multi-year deal with BET, renewing his hit shows on the network.
Per Variety, under Tyler Perry’s deal, Tyler Perry’s Sistas and Tyler Perry’s The Oval have been renewed for seasons 8 and 6 respectively.
Tyler Perry’s House of Payne is also getting a sixth season on BET, which marks the 12th total season after the sitcom initially aired on TBS.
Tyler Perry’s Zatima, Tyler Perry’s Ruthless, Tyler Perry’s Bruh and All The Queen’s Men are also getting new seasons on the network.
Perry’s new crime drama Route 187 is also set to debut, telling the story of a series of violent incidents on a bus route.
The non-exclusive deal comes as Perry’s previous agreement with BET, which began in 2019, prepares to end.
BET Media Group president/CEO Scott Mills said,
“Tyler Perry is simply without rival as a creator of content that powerfully resonates with audiences across genres, formats, and platforms.”
Adding:
“Our programming partnership with Tyler – undoubtably the largest deal ever in the industry with a Black creator – has been hugely successful; delivering the number one series across all TV among Black audiences and five of the top 10 series on cable among Black viewers. We are thrilled to extend our extraordinary relationship with Tyler and to continue to be the home of the largest and most diverse collection of new Tyler Perry content for years to come.”
The news also comes as Perry’s $800 million studio expansion was put on hold “indefinitely” amid AI developments.

She revealed on Instagram on Sunday (April 14), that she’s in the hospital after using a numbing cream to get a huge tattoo on her leg.
The reality star and entrepreneur told her 2.7 million followers in a video from the hospital bed,
“Listen up, people. Money Monster Sierra is officially admitted into the hospital until due notice. I love you guys so much. I just want to say again, if you are going to do Monster Numb and get your tattoos, do not get it crazy big like I did. Because when it numbs off you’re gonna be in crazy pain. And when you’re getting it done you’re gonna feel nothing.”
She added for those who have a higher tolerance of pain,
“Just be mindful that when the numbing cream wears off, you’re gonna start feeling it. And it’s gonna hurt, especially if it’s big like mine.”
She added that her tattoo runs from the top of her stomach to the bottom of her leg, ending by asking fans to pray for her, and wondering if she could still publish content while hospitalized.
On Monday (April 15), she shared footage of her struggling to walk with a walker and assistance from a medical staffer.
In a follow-up Instagram Story, she revealed,
“I couldn’t walk on my leg for the last 3 days.”
She added tha tshe wen tto the hospital and was given pain medication, howvever, when that “wore off”
“I couldn’t walk at all, I needed to stay in the hospital for dayssssss, I said ok God it’s me and you! I’m a real soldier I’ll be back better than ever!”
She said moving forward she is going to get smaller tattoos.

The 29-year-old YouTuber and wrestler is expecting his first child with his fiancé, model Nina Agdal.
Nina Agdal, 32, and Logan Paul revealed the pregnancy in a joint Instagram post on Monday (April 15). In the photo, they both hold ultrasound photos as they kiss. They revealed in the caption that Baby Paul is due this fall.
Last month, Logan Paul said he and Nina Agdal wanted three children: “two boys and a girl.”
He added,
“We’re shopping right now for a potential area to raise kids,’ Paul said. ‘I’m sure they’ll be partially raised here (Dorado, Puerto Rico) and partially somewhere else.”
Logan proposed to Nina Agdal in during a trip to Italy in July. He shared a video of him popping the question on Instagram and wrote that his future wife,
“Turned me into a puddle.”
In the full video, his mother and brother Jake Paul made a cameo. Logan told Nina,

Real Housewives of Potomac star Gordon Thornton has announced he’s been diagnosed with Bipolar I. He made the revelation during the third and final part of the Bravo reality show’s season 8 reunion that aired on Sunday (April 14).
He explained,
”The difference between Bipolar and Bipolar I is the degree of manic that you have.”
Mia Thornton, 31, then began to cry as her cast mates Wendy Osefo and Candiace Dillard Bassett comforted her.
Gordon Thornton, 71, continued,
“If there was a Bipolar II, or III or IV, quite frankly I would have those.”
According to the Cleveland Clinic, bipolar is a
“chronic mood disorder that causes intense shifts in mood, energy levels and behavior. Manic and hypomanic episodes are the main sign of the condition, and most people with bipolar disorder also have depressive episodes.”
Gordon Thornton said on Sunday night’s RHOP that the condition,
“Causes your mind to really work opposite. Your mind tricks you into saying, ‘You’re normal, everyone else is slow.”
Gordon noted that he was diagnosed about 2 1/2 years ago. However, he said he now realizes he has been battling it since his early 20s.
“My manic got worse over the years, as I gained more control, more power, more money.”
He added that while medication is available, he doesn’t believe it should be the only thing used to treat the disease, stating that it’s important for him to know the early stages of a manic episode.
Gordon said that he cannot tell when he’s having an episode, however, he stated that before their separation Mia Thornton could identify an episode and tell him, but he wouldn’t listen.
Mia Thornton and Gordon, who share two children, split in June. However, she filed for separation in September. The following month, Gordon had a shocking interview, alleging he had let her sleep with other men after he realized he wouldn’t be “able to satisfy her needs.”
He added at the time,
“Yet she still chooses to sneak around, chooses to lie, chooses to continually change her story about what’s going on and why she’s leaving me.”
Mia later said that interview was her “breaking point” and the moment she decided to end their 11-year marriage and file for divorce.
The couple’s marital woes were a key storyline for Mia this season. In the season finale, the exes addressed their separation in a raw scene that also confirmed Mia had begun seeing a former flame again. She said in part 1 of the reunion that their divorce is not finalized.
During the reunion, Gordon saluted Mia, for being “absolutely wonderful.” He said they’ve forgiven each other, and he believes if he would’ve “gotten control of this manic behavior sooner, Mia wouldn’t have left me.”
“I don’t think she left me because she wanted to be someplace else. She left me because she couldn’t take this anymore.”
Gordon also began to cry before he shared he once checked into a hospital and Mia came to take care of him, visiting him nearly every day.
Mia said she will always be there to take care of Gordon.

John Amos Speaks On Recently Closed Elder Abuse Investigation, Says He Will Share The ‘Real Truth’ Surrounding His Daughter’s Allegations Soon
Actor John Amos is ready to leave his daughter’s claims in the past.
As previously reported, last year the “Good Times” star’s daughter came forward with allegations that her dad was a victim of elder abuse. John Amos denied the claims. However, according to Shannon Amos, her brother, Kelly “K.C.” Amos, who is the celeb’s caregiver, was subjecting their dad to ill-treatment. Shannon Amos’ allegations eventually caught the attention of Adult Protective Services, which prompted the LAPD to launch an investigation last month. However, news recently broke that due to a lack of evidence, the case was closed.
During a newly published interview with PEOPLE, John Amos addressed the closed case and shared that his “real truth” will be revealed soon. He said,
“I want to first of all thank the LAPD for their professionalism and thoroughness in their investigation in which they concluded that I am doing well. This is the same thing I have been saying all along in my response to the media.”
And continued,
“Furthermore, I am even more determined to complete production on the documentary film that my son and I are producing. It will shed light on the real truth as to the motives of those who have painted a false narrative about me. I am John Amos and quite frankly this mess is bringing out James Evans to stay.”

Around the time the investigation ended, Shannon Amos expressed her disappointment in the matter. In part, she said,
“While I acknowledge the efforts of the LAPD on my father’s case, I am disappointed with their conclusion since no one from my family has seen or spoken to my father since July 2023, when K.C. Amos, Eugene Brummet, and Belinda Foster removed him from a medical facility against doctors’ orders.”
Shannon Amos also said that she’s still receiving “evidence that raises concerns over” her father’s well-being.
While John Amos concluded with,
“I learned something very valuable some years ago that I reference in my work and all that I do. Stand on the truth and stay there. it won’t let you down. The truth will stand up for you. The LAPD’s conclusion of their investigation along with my upcoming documentary each stand on that same truth. I’m good and the best is yet to come. Believe it.”

It’s not exactly clear what girl Chris Brown was referring to, but back in 2022, Quavo was spotted seemingly on vacation with the “Deuces” singer’s ex-girlfriend, Karrueche Tran.
The two also allegedly dated in 2017. Rumors of their romance appeared to be confirmed when Chris Brown’s team and Quavo had an altercation at the BET Awards after-party that year.

NFL star Tevin Coleman and his wife Akilah Murib Coleman are opening up about their daughter’s life with sickle cell.
On Tuesday (April 9), the couple shared via a joint Instagram post that their 6-year-old daughter Nazaneen had been on a ventilator.
The pair, who are also parents to Nazaneen’s twin brother Nezerah, posted touching footage of Nazaneen recovering in the hospital. Akilah Murib Coleman wrote in the caption,
“A short story about the most resilient girl I know. Nazaneen spent some time on a BiPAP ventilator machine which essentially means she couldn’t breathe on her own & needed the machine to expand her lungs & breathe for her. She also received her first blood transfusion.”
Akilah Murib Coleman went on to salute her husband’s strength and continued,
“I admire & envy the self control @teco_raww26 has because when Nazaneen was placed on the ventilator I fell to my knees hyperventilating. I was swinging in & out of consciousness, it’s a feeling unexplainable watching your child literally fight to breathe. Tevin managed to calm my spirit while managing his own. I’m so sorry for that because it doesn’t leave space for him to go through the motions.”
Expressing her real and raw emotions, the mom of two, who appeared in season 15 of Real Housewives of Atlanta, shared how difficult it is to see her child suffer, and explained why she is so open about Nazaneen’s journey.
“It’s really hard for any parent to be this kind of vulnerable & transparent but we feel it’s important because we share so many of our highs & our successions that it would be disingenuous & misleading not to share this. I’ve realized one of the hardest things for me to do as a parent, wife & woman is to surrender. I cannot always control the outcome & that is such a hard pill to swallow.”
She shared that the experience is “humbling” yet “inspiring” as money and celebrity status cannot “alter” the outcome.
Nazaneen’s classmates also sent her audio, telling her they missed her and “hope you feel better.”
Akilah said of the heartfelt moment, which was included in the video,
“She listened to that message more times than I can count. Even when she couldn’t speak & all she could do was cry that audio was on repeat for two weeks in the hospital. I think it kept her spirits up & determined to fight. It serves as a reminder of the power of friendship no matter the age! ??

Akilah and Tevin Coleman have been open about their daughter’s journey with sickle cell and are advocates for raising awareness about the condition. According to the National Institutes of Health, it is “an inherited blood disorder that affects hemoglobin, the protein that carries oxygen through the body.”

The parents of mass shooter Ethan Crumbley were handed down a hefty prison sentence.
Reports state that a court judge ruled that James and Jennifer Crumbley must serve 10 – 15 years behind bars for their role in Ethan’s terrorism.
The verdict was given today (Tuesday, April 9th) in an Oakland County, Michigan courtroom. Earlier this year, the Crumbleys were each found guilty on four counts of involuntary manslaughter for providing their then 15-year-old son Ethan with a gun, which he used to open fire at Oxford High School in 2021, killing 4 people.
Their unprecedented case marks the first time parents have been held accountable for a teen/young adult mass shooting, which, unfortunately, is a recurring instance in America. Back in December of last year, Ethan was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the fatal incident.

During his parents’ trials, prosecutors argued that the Crumbleys had ample indications that Ethan was troubled and could have done more to prevent the shooting. They claimed that hours before the attack, Ethan’s school contacted them to discuss alarming images he drew of guns and gunshot victims. Instead of taking the matter seriously, Jennifer was accused of making light of the situation and failing to inform the school that she’d recently given Ethan a gun.

Additionally, text messages from Ethan from months prior to the shooting alleged that he reached out to his parents for help with his mental problems to no avail. The high schooler said he told his mother he was seeing demons and hearing voices and needed medical help which she allegedly laughed at. He sent a text to his friends subsequently that reportedly read:
“I want help but my parents don’t listen to me so I can’t get any help…I have zero help for my mental problems and it’s causing me to shoot up the fucking school.”
Adding about his father James:
“I actually asked my dad to take (me) to the Doctor yesterday but he just gave me some pills and told me to ‘Suck it up.”

It’s no secret that there are drastically mixed reactions to the 2004 biographical drama “Man in the Mirror: The Michael Jackson Story.” One of the biggest debates surrounding the movie is whether Flex Alexander should have been cast as the King of Pop. It’s been almost 20 years since the TV film premiered, and people are still looking for answers behind the ill-received project. More recently, the public has started to take to the TikTok account of Flex Alexander’s daughter Imani in hopes of learning more about her dad’s decision to portray Michael Jackson.
The rising singer couldn’t answer the “burning question” herself, but she did recently tap her famous dad to hear his side of things in a recent clip posted on the video-sharing app. Explaining how he got the part, Flex Alexander said,

A free speech organization has called for an investigation into North Central University’s George Floyd Memorial Scholarship.
On Mar. 25, the Legal Insurrection Foundation filed a complaint against the award fund with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights.

According to the non-profit, the eligibility terms of the George Floyd Memorial Scholarship are violations of Title IV of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which “prohibits intentional discrimination on the basis of race, color or national origin in any ‘program or activity’ that receives federal financial assistance.”
The document read,
“We write on behalf of the Equal Protection Project of the Legal Insurrection Foundation, a non-profit that, among other things, seeks to ensure equal protection under the law and non-discrimination by the government, and that opposes racial discrimination in any form.”
They expanded:
“We bring this civil rights complaint against North Central University for creating, supporting and promoting the George Floyd Memorial Scholarship — an undergraduate scholarship that engages in invidious discrimination on the basis of race, color, and national origin.”

If you didn’t know, the Minnesota college’s criteria for the program are listed on their official website, where they describe the scholarship as “a way to invest in a new generation of young Black Americans.”
The said breaching of the terms seems to focus on their stipulation that the applicant must be “a student who is Black or African American.

Legal Insurrection Foundation president William A. Jacobson, Esq. and The Equal Protection Project’s Ameer Benno, Esq. have requested a look into the initiative and enforcement.
They concluded in their statement,
“We respectfully ask the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights to impose remedial relief as the law permits for the benefit of those who have been illegally excluded from NCU’s George Floyd Memorial Scholarship based on racially discriminatory criteria, and to ensure that all ongoing and future programming through that university comport with federal civil rights laws.”
The George Floyd Memorial Scholarship is a four-year, full-tuition grant for Black students. It’s an honor of the late George Floyd who horrifically died at the hands of police brutality in 2020.
He was murdered by a white officer named Derek Chauvin, who knelt on his neck for nearly 10 minutes after a store clerk suspected that Floyd had paid him in counterfeit money.

She wrote in a since-deleted post,
“People have been asking what is going on in my life. Unfortunately my husband and I are going through a separation and I moved in with my parents home down the bayou. I have the support of my family and friends to help guide me through this. I am learning to listen to my heart. Right now I need time to let myself find… who I am.”
As of publication, Ryan Anderson’s bio on Instagram still reads,
“My name is Ryan Anderson. I’m from Louisiana. I’m married to the most wonderful, most beautiful woman in the world, Gypsy Rose Blanchard…”
He most recently posted a photo of him and Gypsy Rose together earlier this month.

During the latest episode of her podcast “Behind The Likes,” the influencer spoke publicly for the first time about allegedly being assaulted by singer Trey Songz in 2018. According to Winter Blanco, real name Kaila Wilkey, she was friends with the “Bottoms Up” artist for years without any hiccups until one day when things took a tragic turn. Recalling the purported incident with her co-host, Chy Fontenette, she claimed,
“He put his hands on me and I never talked about it. This is the first time I’ve ever talked about this publicly, I really don’t give a f*ck anymore. He put his hands on me, scared the f*ck out of me and I never said anything.”

After sharing that she never went to the police or answered calls from lawyers representing other women with assault claims against Trey Songz, born Tremaine Neverson, she elaborated,
“At the time there were girls settling for like $100,000, $200,000 and I never did it. In 2020, when that girl came out saying that he raped her, I had her lawyer reach out to me…and I was like ‘I can’t be a part of it.’ But like, now where I am in my life, I’m tired of letting abusers get away with so much sh*t.”
Explaining why she waited to come forward, Winter Blanco candidly shared,
“I was not going to ever talk about it because [at the time] I was still trying to do music and I was just like, ‘I don’t want this to affect my career.’”
Detailing the aftermath of the alleged incident, Winter claimed,
“I was with a group of friends when it happened, they didn’t see it happened but I went and got in the car with them after and I had like, marks on my neck and scratches on my neck. All my nails were broken, my hands were bleeding, my knees were scraped up and sh*t.”

Winter expressed that instead of taking accountability for what (allegedly) occurred, Trey Songz texted her the following day and tried to “gaslight” her into believing she was drunk.
“[Trey Songz] was like, ‘Oh, I don’t know what you think happened but you were drunk and you hit me….And I was like, “You are not going to trick me and play with my mind. I know what you did to me and you’re not going to convenience me otherwise.”
Winter noted that the reported assault took place after she filmed for the no-longer-running series “Bad Girls Club,” and she felt the reputation gained following the show would have played a hand in people not taking her allegations seriously.
As you may know, Winter is not the first woman to make assault allegations against the R&B singer. Over the years several women have made claims against him, including well-known former University of Las Vegas basketball player Dylan Gonzalez. In 2022, She alleged she was previously raped by Trey Songz at a Las Vegas hotel. Trey Songz denied her allegations.

Reportedly, the billionaire is being accused of misleading consumers and damaging the brand of a renowned artist by falsely claiming to own some of his work, and is now being sued by his estate.

Reportedly, the estate of famed artist Donald Judd, known for his sculptures and uniquely designed pieces, alleges that Kim Kardashian falsely promoted some of the furniture in her SKKN office as Judd originals. They cited a video the entrepreneur shared back in 2022 where she made the claims while giving a tour of her workplace. Specifically, Kardashian boasted that a table and set of chairs she owned were crafted by the famous artist himself.

However, Judd’s estate denied in the suit that Kardashian’s pieces are authentic, though it’s noted that they aren’t certain whether or not the celebrity knew the pieces were phony. They claim the furniture actually came from the reality star’s go-to design company, Clements Design, who are also defendants in the lawsuit. Reportedly, Judd’s estate is seeking a court order to mandate that Kardashian remove her video, which they say has tarnished Judd’s reputation and legacy. They are also reportedly seeking profits from Clements Design.

While it has not been reported that Kardashian has responded to the suit publicly or in court, it appears the video of her office tour has since been removed from her YouTube channel. The lawsuit’s other defendant Clement Design released a statement about the complaint, claiming to have already attempted to resolve the matter privately with Judd’s estate. They wrote:
“This issue was brought to our attention over a year ago. We communicated with the Judd Foundation’s counsel and explained to them in no uncertain terms that there were obvious key differences between the tables and chairs in Kim’s office and the Judd Foundation’s tables and chairs.”

“The Judd Foundation’s prior counsel acknowledged these differences and since then, we have not heard from them in over a year, and are now being blindsided with a lawsuit. Update: 6 Construction Workers Presumed Dead After Baltimore Bridge Collapse + 2 Others Rescued
Update (March 27, 2024): Six workers who were at the Francis Scott Key Bridge when it collapsed are presumed dead, officials said on Tuesday (March 26).
Rear Admiral Shannon Gilreath, the commander of the Fifth Coast Guard District stated during a press conference,
“Based on the length of time that we’ve gone in the search, the extensive search efforts that we put into it, the water temperature at this point, we do not believe that we will find any of these individuals still alive.”
The Coast Guard suspended its search around 7: 30 p.m., Gilreath added, per multiple outlets.
He continued,
“The Coast Guard is not going away. None of our partners are going away, but we are just going to transition to a different phase.”
The Maryland Police Department Secretary Colonel Roland Butler Jr. said that the “conditions” are now “dangerous” for the search crew so surface ships would be on the water through the night. Divers were expected to resume their search at 6 a.m. Wednesday (March 27). Butler noted that their attempt to find the missing workers is still a priority.
“We’re going to do everything in our power to help these families find closure.”
Shortly after the collapse, two people were quickly rescued from the water by first responders. However, the remaining six are still missing.
Original Story (March 26, 2024): Rescuers are searching for at least six victims in the water after a container ship crashed into a bridge in Baltimore, causing it to collapse.
During a press conference, Maryland Transportation Secretary Paul Wiedefeld said eight people were on the Francis Scott Key Bridge at the time of the collapse. He added rescuers saved two of those eight people from the water. One of them wasn’t hurt, but the other was in “very serious condition.” Nevertheless, Baltimore City Fire Chief James Wallace reminds people it’s still an “active search and rescue” situation, so the number of missing people could change.

Early Tuesday morning (March 26), a container ship flying under a Singapore flag crashed into the Francis Scott Key bridge, causing it to snap and plunge into the Patapsco River below within seconds. Then, the container ship Dali caught fire, and thick, black smoke billowed out of it, but it did not sink. The ship was reportedly headed through Baltimore to its final destination, Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Synergy Marine Group, which owns and manages the ship, released a statement. It noted that the vessel hit a pillar of the bridge while in control of one or more pilots, who are local specialists who help navigate vessels safely into ports.
It said all crew members, including the two pilots on board, were accounted for, and there were no reports of any injuries.
Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott called it “an unthinkable tragedy,” adding,
“Never would you think that you would see, physically see, the Key Bridge tumble down like that. It looked like something out of an active movie.”
Meanwhile, Maryland Governor Wes Moore has declared a state of emergency, saying in a statement,
“We are working with an interagency team to quickly deploy federal resources from the Biden Administration. We are thankful for the brave men and women who are carrying out efforts to rescue those involved and pray for everyone’s safety.”
He also said the ship’s crew issued a “mayday” call before it collided with the bridge, which helped officials “stop the flow of traffic so more cars were not up on the bridge.”
According to US Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, there are “no indications” that the container ship collision was intentional.
He wrote on X,
“We are closely monitoring the tragic situation unfolding as a result of a containership colliding with the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore. Our thoughts are with families of the missing and injured.”
Alejandro Mayorkas also noted that the US Coast Guard, which ismanaged by the Department of Homeland Security, was on the scene “along with our state and local partners and is actively involved in search and rescue operations.”
The National Transportation Safety Board has launched a team to investigate the incident.
The FBI also stated it joined the investigation into the cause of the collision. As of right now, it’s still unclear what made the cargo ship to crash into the bridge.
Before it collapsed on Tuesday (March 26), the Francis Scott Key Bridge spanned the Patapsco River. The river leads to the Port of Baltimore, a major hub for shipping on the east coast. The bridge, which opened in 1977, is named for the writer of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
